My Very Own Wee Corner!!!

I took some inspiration from one of my favourite bloggers for this one, the fabulous Cherry Menlove www.cherrymenlove.com with whom I must admit I am more than a little obsessed lol. Not in a creepy way you understand... its just that she has the life i aspire to :-)

I had long eyed up an old desk that sat in my dad's garage. It had in a previous life been the centre of operations for his car business, although I've NO idea how he managed to fit everything in it! And at that stage was in my parents house. Over the years, it made its way to the garage and became a home to all kinds of pruck. I casually mentioned one afternoon to dad that I would be interested in taking it when he no longer wanted it and hey presto a few days later, dad had it all cleared out and I was instructed to take it home.

The desk was a sorry sight, thick with dust which masked much faded mahogany, albeit not of the best quality. I had a chat with the friendly staff at my local paint supplier (The Paint Shop, Moira Road, Lisburn) about wanting to paint it and they recommended using BIN primer before I painted it in my chosen colour. These fabulous paint maestros are able to mix my favourite Farrow & Ball colours on request, so while I was there I got a batch of eggshell mixed up in Skimming Stone, a beautiful off-white.

A few days and a lot of painting later the desk was looking fabulous and it now sits proudly in my living room, housing a miriad of crafting goodies. What do you think?

I wish I had taken more photographs of before and during this little makeover, so you could see just what a difference some paint made. I will definitely do this in future! The little chair sitting in front of the desk was a car boot sale bargain for only £5!! I love it and some day will recover it in a nice fabric, so it can loose its Ikea fleece cover.

I hope anyone reading will comment, please let me know what you think of the desk....

Until next time (I promise it won't be months this time!)

I'm not doing to well at this blog lark!!!

Well... its fair to say im not doing too good at blogging! Its been a long time since i posted ANYTHING, but i promise (to my 2!! followers lol) that I will try harder.

I have been doing things all this time, so there is no excuse for not posting anything.....

Over these past months i have been busy making cards, learning a little bit of sewing, doing some DIY and doing A LOT of baking with my friend!! So expect this blog to have a little of everything i enjoy doing and I hope it makes for interesting reading.

I hope this is the begining of an adventure, with me trying all kinds of creative things which hopefully will someday become more than just a hobby. A girl can dream :-)

Happy Birthday Dad!!!!

Well it's dads birthday today and we had a little cake party in mums house...

Lovely homecooked dinner, followed by pavalova, apple crumble, chocolate cake and cupcakes. Sugar overload all round....

Im looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend, spending some time pottering at home, doing what I love. If I create anything worthwhile I'll upload pics.

Baby Cards

So... its been quite a while since I managed to put anything up here, woops! I've been pretty busy.....

Here are a few baby cards to give an idea of what I can do, but of course cards are a very personal thing so any requests welcome.

These can of course be personalised with baby's name, date of birth etc if required.

Hope this gives someone out there some inspiration!

Wedding Fever!!

I created this blog to share the cards and other handmade crafts that I keep myself busy with - although you will notice I have yet to get round to putting anything up!!

So here goes with a few pics of wedding related stationery I have made in the past! Apologies for the small size of a few of the pics, unfortunately my camera is broken so I had to use my trusty iphone :-)

This is a Wedding Invitation that I made for my cousins wedding back in March, i think it is a lovely idea, especially as you can change the tag message to suit the couple!

An Evening invitation this time, that I made for my own wedding back in 2008 - I wanted to go for a vintage look and LOVED the end result. I will try to get my hands on a day invite to put up, but as you can imagine i didn't need to send myself one ;-)

I'm going to post this now as its the first time i've tried to puts pictures up I want to see what its like!

Living In the Windy City!!!

This is my first blog, so it'll be short and sweet until i get the hang of this blogging lark!!

Today has been VERY stormy here in Lisburn, I was worried I would get home from work and find my shed had blown away - thankfully not :-)

I hope over time this blog will grow into something people will be interested in, although that may take some time, so please bear with me...

Lots of love
